Pixels and Polygons Quarterly is a retro gaming zine. It measures 8.5” x 5.5” and includes 98 pages of premium color paper and a heavy soft-touch cardstock cover. Inside each issue you'll find game and development history, personal essays, classic gaming coverage from magazines, original ads and artwork, and a whole lot more!
This issue’s theme is “The Shadow Knows…” The games covered inside this new issue are: Shadow of Destiny, Okage: Shadow King, and Star Wars Shadows of the Empire! Obviously, the loose theme is games that include the word “shadow” in their title, but these are also games released early on new consoles. Through the articles and essays, you’ll discover how these games push new limits on their respective consoles and, while not perfect, explore new ideas and innovations in their eras.
Inside the issue, you’ll get:
- An original umbrella article exploring the early innovations of these games on the N64 and PS2
- An overview of each game and selected credits
- Original articles tied to each of the three primary games
- Personal essays for each game from guest contributors including Mathew Kumar, Maddie, and Marc Deschamps
- Visual content from classic magazines
- REPOST featured article from Ephemeral Enigmas
- Game/Over/Life featured story by director at WayForward, Tomm Hulett
- An original Pencils and Polygons comic by Maddie
- Game art
